Receive a Tax Credit of 30% of cost when you purchase a qualifying solar water heater-- check with your contractor for qualifying products.

Requirements:
Must be placed in service by December 31, 2016.

The system must be certified by the Solar Rating and Certification Corporation (SRCC) or a comparable entity endorsed by the government of the state in which the property is installed.

At least half of the energy generated by the qualifying property must come from the sun.

The water must be used in the dwelling (credit not available for expenses for swimming pools or hot tubs).

Existing homes and new construction qualify.

Must be principal residence.

Rentals do not qualify.

Total tax credit of 30% of cost, up to $500 per 0.5 kw power capacity.

Additional Details:
Submit IRS form 5695 with your annual taxes. Save your receipts and your Manufacturer's Certification Statement for your records.
